Research
Operations Manager
The Company is a global
organization that establishes and operates sustainable forestry
and bioenergy projects in non-industrialized countries around
the world. The Company invests in projects that have the
potential to generate carbon credits under the Kyoto Protocol
Clean Development Mechanism (“CDM”) and realize attractive
returns.
Its business model consists of securing low-cost, long-term
rights to large areas of land within areas that have been
deforested, and where the host country is developmentally and
environmentally proactive. The Company brings together
world-class forestry and management expertise, the skills and
resources of the host country’s forestry department and local
labor to establish low-cost, high-value plantations that combine
commercial timber forestry, energy forestry and bio-energy, all
of which can qualify for carbon credits under the CDM.
The Research Operations Manager will be responsible for the
overall management of non-food bio-fuel crop research and
expansion of current program for vegetable oil production
in China. The Manager will lead the implementation of company’s
research activities to industrialize crops for vegetable oil
production on a large scale. The Manager will also be part of
the team to determine proper diversification of non-food crop
investment in China plantations. The Operations Manager will
initially be located at the company’s China operating
headquarters in China.
The experienced professional that is a successful candidate for
this role will have:

Experience (min 5 years) of management of a large-scale
fruit or vegetable plantation venture in a
non-industrialised country, including management of local
staff and contracts (10,000 ha+).

Extensive
experience of horticultural and harvesting techniques for
production optimisation.

Experience implementing research programmes for
“undeveloped” crops is an advantage.

Experience of vegetable oil production an advantage (e.g.
palm oil), but not required.

Knowledge
of Jatropha Curcas an advantage, but not required.

Experience of working within an industrialized country
company.

Willing
to relocate to South West China.

Proven
budget management ability.

Excellent
intercultural and interpersonal skills.

Excellent
communication skills (must be proficient in English).

Travel
will be required.
